Splined Bars

Flowfit supplies a range of splined bars for hydraulic, agricultural, industrial, construction and mobile machinery applications. Designed for manufacturing and repair work, splined bars provide an externally splined profile that can be cut, machined or incorporated into custom shafts and mechanical drive assemblies.

Our range includes splined shaft bars in a variety of profiles, tooth counts, outside diameters and lengths, helping engineers, fabricators and maintenance teams produce components for hydraulic pumps, motors, gearboxes and other rotating equipment.

How Splined Bars Work

A splined bar has a series of external teeth designed to engage with a matching internally splined sleeve, coupling or hub. The teeth distribute torque across several contact points, creating a strong and reliable connection between compatible rotating components.

Splined bars can be cut to the required length and machined to suit a particular installation. Depending on the application, additional features such as threads, shoulders, keyways or retaining arrangements may be added during manufacture.

For correct engagement, the spline profile, standard, tooth count and dimensions must match the mating component.

Splined Bars for Custom Shafts and Repairs

Splined bars are commonly used to manufacture replacement shafts, extend existing drive arrangements or produce bespoke components for machinery and hydraulic systems.

They are particularly useful when a complete replacement shaft is unavailable or when a custom length and end configuration are required. The bar can be machined to suit the equipment while retaining the correct external spline profile for the mating coupling or sleeve.

Common Applications

Splined bars are widely used in:

  • Hydraulic pumps and motors
  • Agricultural machinery
  • Construction and plant equipment
  • Industrial machinery
  • Gearboxes and drive assemblies
  • Mobile hydraulic systems
  • Replacement shaft manufacturing
  • Fabricated hubs and mechanical components
  • Maintenance and repair projects

They are suitable for applications requiring reliable torque transmission through a compatible external spline connection.

Choosing the Correct Splined Bar

When selecting a splined bar, check the spline standard, spline profile, number of teeth, outside diameter, overall length and material specification.

The mating sleeve, coupling or hub must use the same spline profile. Products with a similar diameter or tooth count may still be incompatible if the pitch, module, tolerance or spline standard differs.

It is also important to allow for any cutting, machining and finishing required to produce the completed component.

Small differences in spline profile, tooth count and dimensions can determine whether a splined bar is suitable for your application. Our experienced team can help you compare available profiles, confirm product dimensions and identify a suitable option for replacement shafts, repairs and custom drive components.
